Wonky Bead Hop!

Welcome to the Wonky Bead Hop hosted by Kristi Bowman Designs!

Kristi had 3 different sets of her polymer clay beads for us to purchase. I forgot to take a picture of mine before I started making them. See them at Kristi's blog: http://dreamsomedesigns.blogspot.com/2013/09/wonky-bead-blog-hop-reveal.html

I new when I got the beads I wanted to do something outside my comfort zone. I have been wanting to try and make a knotted necklace for quite some time so I decided that is what I would do with my beads. I added some turquoise nuggets and carved coral flowers to Kristi's beads to make my necklace. I also found in my stash of beads this red carved cinnabar pendant that went perfectly with the beads Kristi made.

I also made a pair of earrings with the disc beads I purchased from Kristi and added some black glass beads and red coral beads.

Hope you enjoyed my creations.
Be sure and check out Kristi's blog for links the other Hop's http://dreamsomedesigns.blogspot.com/2013/09/wonky-bead-blog-hop-reveal.html

Bead Soup Blog Party Reveal

Bead Soup Blog Party Reveal

Today is the day of the Bead Soup Blog Party Reveal.
My bead soup blog partner Kim Hora of http://www.kimmykats.com/ sent me a soup mix with pottery beads and amazonite and tigers eye and glass beads and a handmade clasp and toggle clasp. She also sent me one of her necklaces made from silverware.  Be sure and check out here Etsy shop for her necklaces made from silverware. Kim's Etsy shop: https://www.etsy.com/shop/kimmykats.  Here is the picture of what she sent me.

Now for the REVEAL!

I made this necklace using the pottery bead and pottery clasp/focal. I used some of the amazonite beads and glass beads that Kim sent me and then added some green stick pearls and fancy jasper beads. The necklace connects in the front with the handmade made clasp. The necklace measure 22" long and hooks in the front. I think the picture in on the white background shows the colors better.

The earrings are made by me using sterling silver filled wire that has been hammered into a stick and I wrapped the amazonite beads and tigers eye beads sent to me by Kim onto the sticks. I oxidized the earrings to match the clasp. The earrings measure 2 1/4" long, and have 10mm round amazonite and 8mm round tigers eye.

Be sure and check out Kim's blog:
http://www.kimmykats.com/ and check out watch she made with the soup I sent her.

Also be sure and Check out the Bead Soup Blog Party website for a complete list of all participants in the first reveal.

Bead Soup

Bead Soup 2013

My bead soup partner is Kim Hora of Kimmy Kats. She makes jewelry from silverware. I love the vintage and rustic feeling of her jewelry. Check out her blog at: http://www.kimmykats.com/. She also has an etsy store with her jewelry for sale: http://www.etsy.com/shop/kimmykats.

I received my bead soup from her. It has Pottery and glass beads and handmade clasps in it. Since I normally don't work with pottery it will be fun to see what I can come up with.
Here is the soup I received from Kim.
She also included one of her pieces of jewelry that is hand stamped and made from silverware.
Thanks KIM!

New Listings

New Earrings Listed in my Etsy shop.

I have listed some new earrings. The first 2 are made from copper and are hammered and hand shaped. The first ones are Crazy Lace Agate and the 2nd ones are Tigers Eye. Both pairs have been oxidized. The 3rd pair of earrings are made from sterling silver filled wire. I was looking for something a little less expensive than sterling silver, so I decided to try the sterling silver filled wire. The wire was easy to work with. I even oxidized the earrings with no problems. So check them out in my shop.

Sorry I haven't blogged in a while, I have been making quite a bit of jewelry for the upcoming Christmas Season. These are just 2 of the pieces I listed in my Etsy shop. I actually have listed quite a few new earrings.
I also have been learning fold forming. These leaf earrings are actually an easier form of fold forming. I think there perfect for fall. But acutally I would wear them all year long. The second pair of earrings are made from handcut copper disc and textured and domed and have blue aventurine beads. They are very denim friendly.

Bead Soup Blog Party!

This is my 2nd bead soup blog hop exchange. My bead soup blog partner is Kim Ballor check out her blog: http://takeyourvitaminc.blogspot.com/. Kim is a lampwork and jewelry artist.   Here is what Kim sent me.

Now for the Reveal.
Here is what I made!

I decided to make the necklace with leather. I don't usually work with leather so I decided to try it. It is 2 strands of leather that I knotted and added the beads with headpins so they would dangle. The bracelet is made with some bali silver tubes and the lampwork beads from Kim and some ivory glass pearls. Hope you enjoy. Be sure and check out the other blogs.

New Banner

It has been way too long since I have posted anything. I have been working steadily on jewelry that has been selling quite well off of Etsy. I haven't had a lot of new lampwork beads because it has been to cold to work in the studio where there is no heat. Hopefully it will heat up soon.

The good news is I have a new banner. My husband did the photography and made the banner for me. He also made a new one for my Etsy shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop/lauriesjewelbox?ref=si_shop.

I got busy creating new items for the Holiday"s and then the Holiday's got in the way.

I listed a some new earrings today in my etsy shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop/lauriesjewelbox?ref=si_shop

I have a lot of new ideas for jewelry designs I would like to get done soon. But I still have a some jewelry items I started in December I need to finish before I can go on to next items. I have told myself I must finish all jewelry that I started before I can move on to the next. We will see how that works!

Here are a couple of earrings that I just listed in my Etsy shop. They are made from copper and coldworked into teardrops and feature natural gemstones.

Enjoy!
